I don’t see the value of frontend and backend devs passing tickets back and forth anymore, AI now handles the cross-stack work allowing generalist "product engineers" to pull off end-to-end features solo. The traditional specialist developer isn't gone, but i think the new team structure should be changed: a dev should now own features. Meaning from UI components down to database schemas. They should own the non functional aspects as well. In this paradigm I think that specialists are liberated from routine implementation to focus on architectural integrity, system performance, security guardrails, and code quality reviews. We’re technically pushed towards that, in simple terms, we don’t really prompt saying “don’t build the frontend for this feature, I’m not supposed to”.

This new proclamation gives INSA the power to set standards, inspect critical systems and require cyber incidents to be reported within 48 hours. For developers, code, access controls, logs, third-party tools and deployments may all need to meet “legal” requirements. Dumb technical decisions could now lead to fines or even personal liability. Even if it’s defined I don’t really know what can be included as a critical infrastructure.. but better safe than sorry, beef up your security.

I agree, we are a nation of followers. This was my thought even before I even got this conclusion but only because we lack 'Proof of Concept.' Everyone waits for the first person to succeed before they jump in.I just would rather be the one who sets the path than the one opening the fifth bakery on the same block lol. Risk-aversion is why we stay behind ig someone has to break that cycle by betting on talent. If we succeed, we don't just make money. we prove that Ethiopian minds are a better investment than imported goods. Plus the cultural shock still hits even angels here ain’t have courage to bet on the talent. Like they had to be convinced enough you are printing money and such. Plus most of them believe on short return and high equity just like local market thing where you have to ceil you price up because no one is offering that product. Also there is a huge gap on awareness about the tech not even ai in general which makes it harder even to find product market fit here for solving local businesses. But all those just shouldn’t be a blocker anymore just let it be as a challenge like with this level of acceleration I don’t think it worth sleeping on it. All the talent now can be backed with AI. I mean all the cool people ik personally are much smarter than me and someone other people outside Ethiopia I work with. We just had to push that and we have to show some effort in general. The acceleration and timing is worth giving it a shot.

Just a small reminder that abstaining from an election doesn't cancel the election. It simply shrinks the pool of total voters, meaning every person who does vote suddenly sees the power of their individual ballot multiplied while your voice means absolutely nothing.

We cannot live in a society where everyone thinks “My individual contribution doesn't matter” and so no one acts. By applying individual logic to a group problem, the group defeats itself, handing the win to the “other side” meaning the side that is willing to act collectively.
