๐Ÿšจ 300 DAYS

300 days of a life that can never be given back.

On 22 December 2025, African American journalist Bilal Abdul Kareem was detained in Syria. Without formal charge. Without trial. Without access to a lawyer.

How many days of a man's life must pass before someone is held accountable?

A brother's suffering should not have to become our own before it matters to us.

Ya Allah, ease his hardship, hasten his release and grant him justice.

๐Ÿ—ฃ Brother Bilal Abdul Kareem Demands End To Silence

๐Ÿ“Brother Bilal Imprisoned Nearly A Year

African American Journalist Brother Bilal Abdul Kareem has spent nearly a full year locked away in detention without formal charges, legal access, or public accountability. As time passes quietly, his plight raises a fundamental question for us all: why are we standing by and staying silent while a Muslim brother remains arbitrarily imprisoned?

๐Ÿ“Silence Violates Fundamental Islamic Values

Remaining quiet in the face of arbitrary harm violates core Islamic principles. In Islam, justice is absolute and cannot be set aside out of political loyalty or fear. Allah commands in Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:8) to stand firmly for justice and never allow personal bias or factional ties to stop us from doing what is right. Staying silent when a Muslim is held without rights enables wrongdoings to continue.

๐Ÿ“Our Responsibility To Speak Up

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) instructed us to help both the oppressed and the oppressor, explaining that helping an oppressor means actively stopping them from oppressing others (Sahih al-Bukhari 2444). Holding authorities accountable to Islamic standards of fairness is not division; it is a required duty to protect the moral integrity of the community.

๐Ÿšจ Three Core Demands

Brother Bilal Abdul Kareem is calling for basic legal due process and systemic accountability. His campaign highlights three non-negotiable demands for justice:

1. A Fair Trial: Grant Brother Bilal an immediate, open, and transparent court proceeding.

2. Access To Lawyers: Guarantee every prisoner in Syria access to legal representation and due process.

3. End Torture Immediately: Put an immediate and complete end to all forms of torture in all detention facilities in Syria.

๐ŸŽค Brother Bilal used his platform to speak out for the rights of others, and now he is trapped behind bars without a voice. Silence only serves to normalise arbitrary detentions. Share this post, amplify Brother Bilal's three demands, and fulfill your duty to advocate for justice and accountability today.

โœ๏ธ๐Ÿพ Dear brothers,

On this World Mental Health Day, I hope you remember Bilal Abdul Kareem and the others detained in Syria without charge or trial.

You know that torture happens in these places. You know it. The world knows it. And yet, the silence is deafening.

Dear brothers, Allah is our witness.

The silence is painful. The silence hits hard. And the silence needs to stop.

This is bigger than one man. This is Bilal and beyond.

No human being should be forgotten, abandoned or left to suffer in silence.

๐Ÿง  On World Mental Health Day, remember those detained in Syria without charge or trial. Torture, abuse and inhumane detention conditions have been extensively documented. The psychological suffering caused by detention, fear and uncertainty must not be forgotten. Their mental health matters. Their human rights matter.

๐Ÿ—ฃ There is a lot of talk online about masculinity. But masculinity means very little if it disappears when speaking up is uncomfortable and comes at a cost.

If our willingness to advocate for justice changes depending on who is affected, then justice was never really our principle.

Bilal Abdul Kareem is an African American journalist and convert to Islam. The ask is simple: advocate for due process, transparency and justice.

For those talking about what it means to be a strong Muslim man: principles are tested when advocacy is unpopular, when speaking up carries a cost, and when silence would be easier.

So where are the online influencers, charity figures, daโ€™wah bros and those who loudly advocate for others when it comes to Bilal Abdul Kareem?

Not special treatment. Fair treatment. Due process.

โ—๏ธIf the situation were reversed, Bilal Abdul Kareem would be speaking up for you, tirelessly demanding justice, due process and accountability, even if it meant taking a risk to do so.

Bilal dedicated himself to the call for justice and founded the Justice Covenant, which calls for:

1. No Torture
2. No Indefinite Detention
3. All suspects are deemed innocent until PROVEN guilty
4. Detainees MUST appear before a judge within 48 hours of arrest

African American journalist and convert to Islam Bilal Abdul Kareem has been detained in Syria since 22nd December 2025 without formal charge or trial.

The uncomfortable truth is that, as a convert to Islam, Bilal has been neglected by the very Ummah he became a part of. He has spent years advocating for the rights of others. Now, when he needs that same solidarity, where is the Ummah?

Public advocacy matters. Speaking out, raising awareness and applying public pressure can help keep attention on his situation and strengthen calls for due process, in sha Allah.

Demand due process. Demand justice for Bilal Abdul Kareem.

๐Ÿ“56 years old. Detained without formal charge. Denied access to a lawyer.

African American journalist Bilal Abdul Kareem turns 56 this month. He has been detained in Syria since 22 December 2025, without formal charge or trial and without access to a lawyer.

To many of us, Bilal is a father figure and an elder brother. Is this how Syria treats its elders?

Allah commands justice, Islam forbids oppression, and we are taught to honour our elders.

Bilal Abdul Kareem deserves justice, dignity and due process.

Bilal Abdul Kareem made people feel that their voice mattered, their life mattered, and their rights mattered.

He walked towards when others walked away, listened when others chose to turn away, and gave the unheard a place to be heard.

He reminded people that even when the world looked away, their stories were worth telling, their dignity worth defending, and their humanity worth fighting for.

Will you do the the same for him?

From Bilal's wife, Umm Bilal:

Yesterday was a beautiful day; we were able to visit Bilal Abdul Kareem Al hamdulillah!

Apparently, our children weren't allowed; only four people were permitted on this visit, meaning just us, his wives. This made me, especially for Bilal personally, very sad and disappointing!

Nevertheless, we had a lovely visit, even if it only lasted half an hour! Bilal is okay, Alhamdulillah. All what we can say.. We were told by the government people, that his case is supposedly still under investigation and that he will soon be brought before an investigating judge! We, and especially Bilal, have been waiting for exactly three months today for a decision, a verdict from a judge!

โ€ŽBilal was questioned once, and that was two months ago; nothing has happened since!

We absolutely dont understand this, subhanAllah! We are now impatiently waiting for answers, answers for us as a family, and for Bilal's return to us! Please make dua for us... May Allah hasten his release, may Allah grant us all patience in this difficult time, time that is being stolen from us, especially the children who are suffering greatly here, who aren't even allowed to see their father during visits now! This is called "dhulm" !

โ€ŽThis pic of him shows him, by his work Masha'Allah, public work for the "Prisoners Covenant" in Syria... Prisoners covenant, FOR THE RIGHTS OF PRISONERS, guilty or NOT! !
โ€Ž
โ€ŽI demand justice for my husband Bilal Abdul Kareem and other prisoners in Syria!

โ€ŽThe Justice Covenant demands:
โ€Ž- No Torture
โ€Ž- No Indefinite Detention
โ€Ž- All suspects are deemed innocent until proven guilty
โ€Ž- All detainees have the right to see a judge within 48 hrs of their detention!!
