🧵Naqsh Project's first event in Freshman was all about the history and science behind rugs.

A big thank you to Sogdiana, our speaker for the day!

We started with the story of the Pazyryk Carpet, one of the oldest surviving carpets in the world, and talked about what it reveals about the people who wove it.

From there, we explored how different regions across Uzbekistan and Central Asia developed their own distinct patterns and techniques, shaped largely by trade and cultural exchange across the region.

We also dug into why rugs became such a central part of life here in the first place: the nomadic lifestyle. It was used for warmth, for transportation, and for everyday function, long before it became decoration.

During the event, participants designed their own rug-inspired pieces, mixing motifs and patterns they connected with into something personal enough to frame and keep.

🧶Naqsh is about cultural awareness, noticing the history behind items we usually just walk past and building a community of people who love art, culture, and science.

🎓Freshman Research Program Fair x Research Competition

Don't leave your university application incomplete without a research project!

With admissions season right around the corner, now is the time to get started on your research project. 🚀

The Freshman Research Institute will be hosting its program fair on the 28th of August where you can meet and interact with the Institute's various mentors who specialize in fields from Engineering to History.

The science club InterSTEM will also be holding its first Research Proposal Competition! Students will have the chance to present their research proposals to a panel of judges and compete for special prizes. The event will also have a special guest speaker from the university of Manchester.

This will be a great opportunity to better understand how research can elevate your university application and deepen your knowledge in your field.

🎨Building a Distinctive Academic Profile Through Research in the Humanities, Arts & Culture

Many students think that research in the humanities, arts, music, and cultural studies is not strong enough to stand out in academia. In our second Freshman Research Institute seminar, we will focus on how you can turn these fields into original, structured, and intellectually serious research that stands out in both college admissions and academic contexts.

The session will be led by an incoming student at Amherst College, drawing from her experience in musicology, fieldwork, interdisciplinary humanities research, and cultural studies.

We will focus on questions such as:

—how you turn your interest in humanities, arts, music, or cultural studies into academically rigorous work
—how you use your existing experiences and extracurriculars in these fields to build strong research directions
—What makes a research question strong, unique, and deep enough to stand out in academic work and college applications
—how you identify and connect with mentors, researchers, and academic scholars from leading institutions worldwide
By the end of the session, you will have a clear understanding of how to begin producing serious, original work and how to position yourself within academic and research-oriented spaces early on.

🏛 Advanced English Is Back. Now Offline!

Advanced English is Freshman’s most demanding language program, completed by dozens of IELTS 8.0+, SAT 1500+ scorers, native speakers, and Ivy League students.

Over one month, we explore themes in undergraduate education, technology, history, philosophy, and the social sciences. Each cohort follows a unique curriculum, with new readings, discussions, and assignments every month.

During the course, our students will:

✅ learn basic research concepts
✅ experience an undergraduate-level academic workload
