🚨 Srinagar Jail Break: 2 POCSO Undertrials Arrested in Rajasthan

Two undertrials escaped from the high-security Central Jail Srinagar on August 23, 2026.

Both were facing separate cases under the POCSO Act.
The accused were identified as Farman Khan, a Rajasthan resident, and Mukhtar Ahmad Gujjar, from Anantnag.

After escaping, police launched a major manhunt and issued lookout notices.

Srinagar Police, with assistance from Rajasthan Police, traced them to Rajgarh in Churu district, Rajasthan.
The arrests came three days after their escape, ending the immediate search operation.

Police teams from Srinagar have travelled to Rajasthan to complete the legal formalities and bring them back to Kashmir.

Authorities are also investigating how the two managed to escape from the high-security prison.

🔴Five Overground Workers Linked to Terrorists Arrested in J&K’s Kulgam

Security forces on Wednesday arrested five suspected overground workers (OGWs) linked to terrorists during a cordon-and-search operation in the Bugam area of Kulgam district, Jammu and Kashmir.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security forces launched the operation and apprehended the five suspects.

During questioning, the forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, including four pistols, two hand grenades and live rounds, officials said.

🔴Two Suspected Terror Associates Arrested in Pulwama Forest Area, Arms and Grenade Recovered

2 suspected OGWs/terror associates arrested in the Yarwan forest area of CB Nath, Rajpora, Pulwama.

The operation was conducted jointly by J&K Police, Army and CRPF.

Security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) based on intelligence inputs.

The suspects were identified as Latif Ahmad Deedad and Aejaz Ahmad Bajad.

The duo was reportedly spotted emerging from the forest suspiciously and was immediately apprehended.

🚨NIA Court Orders ‘No Unnecessary Handcuffing’ of Separatist Leader Shabir Shah

A Special NIA Court in Jammu directed jail authorities to ensure separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah is not unnecessarily handcuffed while being taken to court or hospital.

The court said he should instead be escorted by sufficient security personnel.
Shah, 74, is currently in custody in connection with a 1996 terror-related case involving alleged mob violence and firing at policemen during a terrorist's last rites in Srinagar.

The NIA took over the case in April 2026 and filed a chargesheet before the Special NIA Court on July 10, 2026.

Shah had sought medical treatment and relief from handcuffing, citing his age and multiple health ailments.
The court clarified that any specialised medical treatment should be provided when required, while jail authorities must follow the applicable jail manual.

Other separatist , including Shakeel Ahmad Bakshi and Javid Ahmad Mir, have also been chargesheeted in the case.
