This isn't even close to everything AR can do

Over the last few years, augmented reality moved beyond selfie filters.

▫️ Medicine - surgeons see CT scans and tumor boundaries directly in their field of view during operations.

▫️ Real estate - buyers walk through unbuilt developments at full scale on the actual site.

▫️ Education - medical students dissect virtual bodies, and pilots practice emergencies without the risk.

▫️ Industry - Boeing and Amazon use AR for assembly and warehouse work, with instructions appearing right on the part.

▫️ Art - museums come alive, and artists create works that exist beyond the boundaries of the physical world.

▫️ Retail - trying on clothes, makeup, and furniture without the physical product is now the norm at Sephora, Nike, IKEA.

AR is the next way of interacting with the world.

At AR Spatially, we're https://arspatially.com/ where you can create your own space and your first AR objects - no code, no expensive gear needed.

We've all been there.

You're planning a night out, browsing the menu, and one thought hits: "okay, but what does it actually look like?"

The name sounds nice, the description sounds delicious, but what actually lands on the plate - total mystery.

AR menus solve this in seconds. Open the app ➡️ the dish appears in front of you at full size ➡️ you instantly know if it's worth it.

No surprises. No "wait, that's it?"

Just picking what you actually want - and what you'll actually get.

How often do you struggle to choose a dish from the menu?

AR glasses are no longer exotic: XREAL at $299 and Snap's first consumer glasses

The last two months brought two pieces of news that are interesting to look at together.

https://www.theverge.com/tech/963465/xreal-a01-plus-xbx-ar-glasses-hands-on - 1600 nits, 62 grams, 50° field of view. It has already launched in China, and sales began in the US in July. https://www.uploadvr.com/snap-specs-design-revealed-preorders-open-price/, at AWE 2026 - but at a price of $2,195 with a $200 deposit, noticeably higher than competitors like Meta Ray-Ban.

Two signals that set the direction for the industry: on one hand, AR hardware is becoming affordable (XREAL), and on the other, a major player is seriously entering the consumer market with full AR for the first time.

This kind of movement usually precedes the moment when a direction goes mainstream - even though Snap itself is currently targeting not the broad public, but enthusiasts and developers.

QUANTUM CHOICE CHRONICLES 🦋
CHAPTER 2 - EPISODE 2

“The company sits on the Fateh field,” Smith said, snorting as he rubbed his hands.

“It’s old — has been producing since 1969 — but in 2014 they discovered significant gas reserves there. And instead of focusing on extraction, these fools are pouring everything into their AR platform, NUR. They claim their software reduces city energy consumption by 45%, replaces illumination… they say it’s the future. They're shooting themselves in the foot.”

“The future?” Janus smiled coldly. “Whoever has cash flow has the future."

Smart AR glasses are no longer a concept from keynote presentations - they're already on the heads of early adopters. A display in the lens, a map layered over the real world, notifications without reaching for your phone - a new layer of everyday life.

At AR Spatially, we don't watch this from the sidelines. The technology that layers digital content onto physical space is exactly what we build. Glasses are just a new gateway to it: geo-anchored objects tied to real-world coordinates become visible without a smartphone screen. What big tech is still putting on their roadmaps, we're building today.

Your whole life lives in your smartphone. The question is - for how much longer?

At AR Spatially, we've been watching where the tech giants are heading. The pattern is clear: the phone is no longer the center of the universe. Interfaces built directly into reality are taking over. AR glasses aren't prototypes anymore - they're shipping products that help you navigate, translate, search, and get through your day.

Google, Apple, Meta, Snap, Samsung - they're pouring billions into AR wearables. Not because it's a cool concept. Because a screen in your pocket isn't the endgame.

And AR is already delivering real value. Surgeons operate with AR guidance. Engineers see schematics overlaid on the equipment they're fixing. Artists create things that simply weren't possible before.

We're not waiting for the future. We're building the platform where AR becomes a working tool - for business, creativity, daily tasks.

https://arspatially.com/ to be part of it, not just watch from the sidelines.

We killed the bottom menu and built a drum instead

Classic bottom nav breaks the moment your app grows beyond a few tabs. So we replaced it with a 3-row 3D carousel docked to the bottom of the screen - the navigation drum.

Two gestures cover everything: swipe sideways to switch between tabs, swipe up/down to dive deeper or resurface. The drum always centers your current position and outlines your breadcrumb trail.

Filters, search, actions, and content - all in one place. No piles of modal sheets, no lost-in-the-app feeling.

More details https://medium.com/p/9f9fdbc8afec?postPublishedType=initial.

We folded the navigation tree into a physical object that spins under your finger. It doesn't pretend the app is simple - it makes the complex manageable.

The update is live, you can test it here 👇

The first AR ad that actually works - by Niantic

Niantic (yes, the Pokémon GO people) just launched Rewarded AR. Dead simple: point your camera at an AR object, interact with it, get rewarded. The first pilot ran with Circle K.

The numbers are wild:

▫️ 76% engagement
▫️ 95% completion rate

Let that sink in. Not views. Not likes. People pick up their phone, point the camera, play with an AR ad - and finish it 95% of the time.

This isn't a banner you scroll past in a second.

So when we say AR Spatially is about AR activations in real-world locations and monetizing through them - we're not betting on faith in the technology. We're betting on a market that's already proving itself: people are in. Businesses are ready to pay. Engagement is insane - 76%.

What do you think? Want to see more ads like this, or still skeptical? 👇

CHAPTER 2 - EPISODE 1

The supersonic jet of Janus Wolfe — a young, ruthless businessman from New York — touched down on the Dubai runway with a soft whisper. Without opening his eyes, he felt the heat seeping through the window.

“Mr. Smith is here to meet you, sir,” the steward reported.

At the bottom of the aircraft stairs, a short, nimble man in an inexpensive suit awaited him.

“Mr. Wolfe! Smith. At your service. Everything according to your requirements.”

A calculating smile flickered across Smith’s face and vanished.

“Speak.” Mr. Wolfe swiftly pulled up Smith’s AR interface and extracted a data folder. “Oasis
Energy. We’re buying it. Why?”

A huge mall. Crowds everywhere. Your daughter was right next to you — and suddenly she's gone.

Panic. Where do you even start?

Now picture a different scene. You pull out your phone, open an AR app — and it shows you exactly where she is, guiding you straight to her. A minute later, she's in your arms.

This isn't science fiction. This is where AR is heading right now.

The same technology we associate with games and filters can do something deeply human. Find your kid. Find your car. Help you not get lost yourself.

The future isn't about cool gadgets. It's about calm in moments that used to be pure panic.

Follow along to see how AR is quietly making everyday life easier.

AR at the 2026 World Cup

Remember that viral clip from Qatar 2022? A guy points his phone at the pitch, the app recognizes the field, he taps a player — and there it is: live speed, heatmap, the works. That was FIFA+ Stadium Experience. A niche feature most people only discovered through TikTok.

For the 2026 World Cup, they're rolling it out for real — not as a gimmick, but as actual tournament infrastructure.

Here's what's coming:

▫️FIFA+ is expanding its AR mode: player stats, VAR replays, and alternate camera angles right on your phone in the stands

▫️Lenovo is building end-to-end AR wayfinding from transit hubs to stadiums and fan zones

▫️Dozens of venues across the US, Canada, and Mexico have already upgraded their 5G and LED systems to support real-time overlays

And here's the thing — once the tournament wraps, none of this goes away. It stays put for concerts, the NFL, esports.

Which means by the end of this summer, the biggest venues in North America will quietly have permanent AR capacity baked into the infrastructure.

Apple Vision Pro Made It Onto a Star Wars Set

Great little story just surfaced. Jon Favreau — director of The Mandalorian & Grogu (hitting theaters May 22) — https://www.roadtovr.com/star-wars-jon-favreau-apple-vision-pro/

The problem is intuitive once you hear it: you're making a movie for a massive IMAX screen, but on set you're looking at a regular monitor. "No matter how big your TV is, it's not an IMAX screen," Favreau said. A composition that looks great in the studio can land completely differently when the audience is sitting in front of a wall-sized screen.

The fix is elegant. Disney built custom software for Vision Pro that drops Favreau into a virtual IMAX theater right there on set. He puts on the headset — and watches his take exactly the way audiences will see it in a cinema.

Full scope, correct aspect ratio, right viewing distance.

What makes the story especially good is Favreau's framing of the logic:

"That's a piece of technology that existed without us. We did a little bit of a software build on top of it. But we're leveraging consumer-facing tech in an industrial capacity."

A $3,499 headset sold to anyone with a credit card turned out to be cheaper and faster than commissioning bespoke gear for a single use case.

And it actually saves money. The most expensive shots in film are the ones that don't make it. Reshoots, cutting-room-floor footage, "wait, that framing is off." Vision Pro lets the director see the final shot through the audience's eyes before the actors have even left their trailers.

There's a broader pattern here for AR/VR. While the industry has spent years debating how to sell headsets to mass consumers, the real applications keep showing up on their own — on Hollywood sets, in operating rooms, in defense contracts. Not where anyone was looking for them.

So when you catch The Mandalorian in IMAX this May — keep in mind the director already saw some of those shots through a headset months before you did.

QUANTUM CHOICE CHRONICLES 🦋
CHAPTER I - Episode 6

And then Layla was gone. She simply dissolved into the pearlescent light.
It was a very dark night around her. Lanterns softly illuminated the yellow walls. The
smartphone lay on the stones, deep veins of cracks running across its screen.

Her consciousness snapped back.

Couldn’t handle the strain — the hardware must have been too weak, Layla thought,
somehow mundanely.

But what was that? she asked herself with the same unnatural calm. A mystical revelation?
A play of light and shadow? A hallucination born of longing for lost roots?

She couldn’t prove it, couldn’t even describe it.

No answer came.

QUANTUM CHOICE CHRONICLES 🦋
CHAPTER I - Episode 5

In a gust of invisible wind, all memory of the past and all possible futures flew straight into
Layla’s consciousness. It felt as though her head was about to burst.

She witnessed quarrels and reconciliations, the birth of ideas and the death of hopes. They
were pain and joy, spreading their wings in the infinity of her mind.

“Do not be afraid,” she suddenly heard a Voice. And for some reason, Layla immediately
understood it was from the future — and believed it unconditionally. She wanted to see him,
to be near him. Always. She knew he was human. Her human.

But she couldn’t tear her gaze away from the Butterfly.

“Majlis,” escaped from Layla and echoed into the future.

“Thank you,” the Voice immediately replied. “Their choice hasn’t been made yet. Our choice
hasn’t been made.”

The "glasshole" is back — and we're being inconsistent about it

Meta's smart glasses are selling, and the old Google Glass-era slur has returned with them. The complaint is familiar: a camera on your face means you can record people without them knowing. Creepy. Invasive.

Fair enough — except here's the part nobody wants to sit with.

The phone in your pocket has a better camera than the glasses. Better zoom. Better low-light. You can prop it on a table, record while pretending to text, slip it into a shirt pocket. Actual spy cameras disguised as pens, chargers, and USB hubs have been sold on Amazon for years, and nobody's tweeting about it.

So why the reaction to glasses specifically?

Because we don't respond to risk — we respond to visibility of risk. Phones have become socially invisible. A camera sitting on someone's face breaks the visual script, so it feels worse, even when it's objectively the weaker tool.

We've done this before. People panicked about the first portable Kodaks in the 1880s. They panicked about camera phones in the early 2000s. Japan still forces phones to make a shutter sound because of it. Every time, the norms eventually caught up.

The real issue isn't the hardware. It's the behavior. Filming strangers without consent is gross whether it comes from a phone, a pair of glasses, or a button cam. Meta's glasses don't turn you into a glasshole. Acting like one does.

The useful conversation isn't "should we ban these." It's what the new norms look like now that cameras are basically part of the body.

Remember and the debate around cameras in smart glasses?

While that conversation is just heating up, the industry is already working on the next form factor.

Dubai-based XPANCEO showed up at MWC 2026 in Barcelona with five working smart contact lens prototypes.

Not concepts — actual hardware on the booth:

▫️ AR lens with a microdisplay that projects directly onto the retina, 52-degree field of view. The image responds to wherever you're looking.

▫️ Holographic lens with a helmet companion — for environments where regular glasses don't work. Already being tested for astronauts.

▫️ Glucose biosensor — the lens reads sugar levels from tear fluid and sends the data to a smartphone in real time. No needles.

▫️ Wireless charging through an over-the-ear module with an antenna three times more efficient than typical wearables.

▫️ Lens with an integrated microbattery — fully self-powered.

The numbers are serious. $250M Series A at a $1.35B valuation — the largest AR/VR round in history and the largest ever in the MENA region.

The roadmap isn't science fiction either: first fully functional prototype by the end of 2026, then clinical trials, then B2B production.

The founder puts a consumer product on a ten-year horizon and calls this an "iPhone moment for the eye.

"If the tech actually ships, the whole current debate around smart glasses and visible cameras becomes obsolete on day one — a smart contact lens is indistinguishable from a regular corrective one.

No recording LEDs, no visible filming gesture. More on that in a separate post.

Meta just dropped a bunch of updates for the Ray-Ban and Oakley Meta glasses

Let's break down what actually slaps and what's just marketing fluff.

The glasses count calories now. Point at your plate, snap it — and they figure out the protein, the carbs, the damage. A dream for everyone who's started a food diary three times and quit by day two.

"Hey Meta, what did I miss?" — and the glasses recap your WhatsApp chats. You can even ask stuff like what your wife said about dinner. Everything's processed on-device, so Zuck won't be reading your side-chat messages. Probably 😉

Translation now speaks Hindi, Arabic, Swedish, and Finnish. By summer they're adding Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean — twenty languages total.

Typing by drawing letters on your own leg. Yeah, you read that right. The neural wristband picks up your finger movements, you trace letters on a table, your thigh, whatever — and the text shows up in the glasses. Used to work only in Meta's own messengers; now they're rolling it out to Instagram and the default iPhone messaging apps.

Also shipping: screen recording from the display for creators, and walking navigation in every US city. Sales are launching in Japan, Korea, Singapore, Chile, Colombia, and Peru.

Meta's quietly turning these glasses from a hype gadget into something you actually want to use. Snapping a photo of your food instead of manually punching in "sandwich with ham, 250g" — that's the kind of thing that can make a gadget stick.

The finger-on-thigh typing, though — that's straight cyberpunk. Five years ago this would've won an award at some Tokyo tech expo. Now it's just an update dropping in the next few weeks.

CHAPTER I - Episode 4

But it only got worse.

The camera looked at her bare feet. Feet that just a second ago had sneakers from the latest collection.

Wiggling her toes, she felt with her skin the still-warm cobblestones of the old street.

And then with horror she saw a trembling pattern on the stones. It was as if made of cold fire, shimmering either like an infinity symbol or butterfly wings.

And immediately the sign soared upward, pulling Layla's hand with the smartphone along.

The screen was rigidly tied to this being. Yes — it was a Butterfly.

Pearl. Formidable. Majestic. Alone in complete emptiness.
