📍*Zhangjiajie (Jilinziao) — the famous "Avatar mountains"* that inspired the movie.

This is a place that will *literally leave you in awe of nature. You stand there, and it’s hard to believe this is Earth and not some CGI creation by James Cameron. It becomes clear — our planet still has plenty of surprises*.

BUT.

My first impression was seriously spoiled by… *the flood of people*.
A buzzing, munching, endless crowd. The stunning nature fades into the background, feeling more like a beautiful set in a shopping mall. I was just drifting in this sea of people, and honestly — zero enjoyment.

You’ve already seen in my stories what happened next. How I managed to escape the crowd and find my zen amidst the constant munching tourists.

🔝 This spot deserves to be in the *top 10 places on Earth*, but with a catch:
only if you know how to take a detour. Sometimes even an illegal one!

Chinese crayfish are *red even before boiling*! 😲

Yes, not all crayfish "blush with shame" only in the pot. In China, *red swamp crayfish are quite popular—they are naturally bright red even before cooking*. This color is due to the unique pigments in their shells.

On the other hand, *European crayfish, which we are more familiar with, are green, brown, or even blue. They only turn red after boiling, when proteins break down, revealing the pigment astaxanthin* (the same pigment that makes salmon pink and flamingos... well, flamingo 🦩).

It's like a little bit of biological magic!
Now you know why Chinese crayfish are already "photo-ready" even before hitting the pot 📸😄

I remembered how I hiked to the Aniva Lighthouse. It took me two days on foot, pushing through wind, rain, and exhaustion. And when I finally stood before that abandoned structure at the edge of the earth — I wanted to scream with joy. There was energy. There was achievement. There was life.

And here? It was just — given.
And with that gift, something vanished.

🌀 It seems that when everything is handed to you at once — the meaning is taken away along with it. Happiness doesn’t grow from ease. It grows from the journey. From struggle, from overcoming, from sweat, pain, and mistakes.
